Life Design
As a coach I work with single women who want to build a more fulfilling life with intention.
I do this by applying design thinking principles to people’s lives in the same way a Fortune 500 company would design products that power their business.
I was single for 30 years of my adult life, so I know what it's like to navigate everything on your own. It can be deeply fulfilling. But it can also be stressful and scary when there are big risks to take, big decisions to make, and you're keeping all the plates spinning by yourself.
And it could be that your life looks amazing on paper — as though you've got it all. But there's a quiet, nagging feeling asking, "Why the hell am I not happy?"
If this resonates, I got you!
My Personal Experience
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, I rented a farmhouse in Kent, CT for a week. I couldn't fly to any fancy destinations, and I was tired of looking at the same four walls every day.
I was all alone there with plenty of time to think. I took an inventory of my life across several areas — Career, Finances, Health, Relationships, and Hobbies — and identified where things were going well, and where they could be better. Because I'm a geek, I used Photoshop to illustrate the landscape of my life and called it my "Shanifesto."
That week, I realized I was strategizing my life the same way I'd been strategizing product design for two decades. The "Shanifesto" became an actionable roadmap toward my goals and how I wanted to live my life.
Since then, everything has changed in remarkable ways.
I relocated to a home where I have more peace of mind. I adopted some financial "guardrails" that help me keep my spending in check. I established boundaries outlining what I would allow into my post-pandemic life, and what could be let go.
Over the years, I've shifted my focus from one area of my life to another as my circumstances have changed. But the beauty of Life Design is that it's iterative, flexible, and effective.
“I absolutely love this framework! I’m using it to get clear on what I want from my job, and at the same time I’m refocusing on where I’m letting money slip through my fingers so I can reduce my debt. I like that I can take tiny steps to get big results.”
- Cassandra M.
I spent the last 25 years using design thinking strategies to create products that Fortune 500 companies use to power their businesses.
What I've learned is that the same approach works on a life — helping people work through challenges, find more fulfillment, and gain control even as the world spins out of control.
While I love vision boards, intention candles, and mantras…that's not what this is. This is an action-based framework that uses the same rigorous process technology teams use to build the world's most useful products. You'll be prototyping your life, running small, measurable experiments to see which ones move the needle for you.
