Life Coaching for Young Adults
For people in their 20s who are figuring it out, and for the adults cheering them on.
There's no playbook anymore. Yeah, that's scary. But it's also your opening.
The old script went like this: get the degree, get the job, move out, move up the ladder. For a lot of people in their 20s right now, that script just isn't working.
The ladder has changed, and the first rung is harder to reach. And a lot of real life, from friendships to job hunting, has been squeezed onto a screen.
Here's the second thing: nobody has the map right now. Not your parents, not your professors, not the CEOs. We're all making it up as we go. That means you get to design your own route, and creative, out-of-the-box approaches matter more than ever.
What the Data Shows
More than 4 in 10 recent college grads (42.5%) are working jobs that don't require their degree. [New York Fed, Q3 2026]
Nearly half of recent grads (49%) moved back in with their parents after graduating. [Clever Real Estate survey, June 2026]
Two-thirds of college students say AI has made them more worried about their future careers. [HelloCollege survey, July 2026]

I’m Shannon Brown
For the past 25 years, I’ve worked as a digital product designer. I started as the sole-proprietor of a boutique web design studio in New York City, and then worked with Fortune 500 companies including Centene, Teradata, Procter & Gamble, eBay, and Prudential helping them build fantastic products and tools to power their business.
In my work, I coached, managed, led projects, etc, etc, etc… training junior designers and engineers on how to understand the problems to solve, design solutions, communicate with stakeholders, tell stories with data analytics, and use AI as an assistant to speed the process.
The more AI evolves, the more empathy I feel for the younger generations and the struggles they face. This has drawn me to focus on helping young adults design the most important product of all: their lives.

My Methodology: Life Design
Good technology teams don't build a product and hope it works. They explore the problem, try small ideas, test them in the real world, and learn fast.
My method is called Life Design. I take the same design thinking approach technology teams use, and leverage it to help young adults design their own unique path forward.
It's flexible, it's judgment-free, and it turns "I should really figure out my life" into a game plan with real actions and clear measures of success.

Here are the steps we'll follow:
- Explore: Take an honest look at where you are across five areas of life: Career, Health, Finances, Relationships, and Hobbies & Interests.
- Prototype: Design small, low-risk experiments instead of a giant life overhaul.
- Test & Learn: Try them, measure what happens, and keep what works.

For parents
You want to help without hovering, and you've probably noticed that advice lands differently when it comes from you. I can be the neutral, experienced partner in your young adult's corner. They set the agenda, and our conversations stay between us.
Coaching isn't therapy. If anxiety or depression is part of the picture, I'll encourage working with a licensed professional alongside our work together.
Let’s talk
It won't always be easy. But there is real reason to be hopeful, and you don't have to figure it out alone.
